Question.. Can I use the .490 ball & .015 patch for a 209 inline rifle ?? i shot that in my hawken 50 with good groups & now i'm moving to a inline and just wondering ?? Billy
A couple of my .50 inlines shoot patched round ball very well despite the fact that the rifling twist rate is much faster than recommended. Give PRB a try in your inline starting with 50-60 grains of powder.
I do, but not as a hunting load. I load a patched round ball over 30 grains 777. I have not checked this load for accuracy, but it will ring steel at 50 yards. I think the twist rate of inlines is to fast for patched round balls with a full load.
Thanks for the input guys. I did a few sabots & I can see that they will hurt my back pocket more than the target... Putting more lead down range will give me a better feel for this inline
