.22 ammo prices

Like most rifles, some guns prefer certain brands over others. Some may cause feeding/extraction issues, some shoot better out of certain guns. I think just try a few hundred of each and see what works best for your rifle.

Ammo sschmmmammo

I buy the cheap stuff. Federal 550 bulk packs. Or, if they dont have those I buy Remington 550 blk packs, or. Winchester bulk packs.

Ive never had a problem with ANY .22 ammo feeding in any .22 rifle or handgun Ive owned.

Bulk packs are your friend. Federal = 14.97 per 550 rounds.

Plus tax of course.

Yeah, exactly...the Federal 550 packs. Here they are 13.47 at wally world. Hard to beat the price since I mostly plink with my 10/22s.

+1 on the Federals from wally world. I used the Remington bulk for a bit but found out how dirty they were (in a Marlin 60). Winchester bulk packs are also a good option - both around 13 bucks at your local wally world.

Since 22 rifles tend to shoot one or two brands or types of ammunition better than others, I would suggest you buy an assortment of brands unless you are mostly plinking. If you are plinking, the Federal Champion 510's in the 50-ct boxes is hard to beat for overall preformance at the low Walmart price. Shoot and keep notes on your results with the various ammo you shoot with the new rifle.

It all just depends on what your gun likes. Some guys 10/22's love the Federal value packs however mine hates them. I've heard others say theirs didn't like them either. Mine want to stovepipe every few rounds if you use the 550 round Federal Value Packs from Wal-Mart. It's fairly accurate but stovepipes every few shots.

The Winchester Xperts Wal-Mart sells 500 packs of however do great. They are accurate and seem to keep stove piping to a minimal. It does it every once in a while with these but hardly ever. I really like the Xperts as does my 10/22.

The Xperts are $13 for a box of 500 at Wal-Mart.

Other guys 10/22's like different stuff.

don't use hypervelocities, of any kind, to damn hard on the weapons.
DON'T EVER USE REMINGTON of any kind, except yellow box and orange box, which are made by eley. Dont use CCI blazer, the bulk stuff, usually very dirty.

good are these;
anything eley, aguila, golden eagle, all made by eley.
anything cci
anything federal
anything wolf
anything winchester.
anything bulk by winchester or federal
American eagle, red box, which is made by federal.

You guys can have the WalMart ammo.
I would not go back if the ammo were free.

Would rather pay an extra five dollars at Bass Pro Shop for bulk .22, in order to avoid waiting 25 minutes for WalMart's 'awol' staff, after people were paged twice, to finally come over to the ammo counter. And this was about 3:00 PM on a major boulevard. The staffer who finally showed up apologized, but was not authorized to sell even a fishing license.

And don't want to leave my car in those nasty WalMart parking lots. If any store has a few customers with warrants on them, it is WalMart.
Too bad that Costco does not sell ammo.

I agree with Federal making good stuff usually. I don't know why my 10/22 hates them. My Browning 30-06 loves the Federal Fusion and likes the Federal soft points so I shoot them in that but my 10/22 for some reason likes the Winchesters. Well, it likes CCI too but they cost much more. The more expensive Federals seem to do okay but I haven't shot all that many of them.

Why Not, is it just because they are dirty, I have no problem with cleaning.

22 ammo

Also love the bulk Federal. Have used both the solids and hollow points. $13.47 at Wal-Mart here.

Works great in a Browning semi-auto, Remington 241 and my Hi-Standard pistol. seems to be accurate, too.

Like to shoot older ammo (Western Super-X, Remington Kleanbore) on special occasions.

Matt; becuase of that list of ammo you see there. There is better stuff, that is more consistent, more accurate, and less dirty, than cci bulk. Nothing against cci, i love all their other stuff dearly, just avoid the cci blazer bulk, just not necessary.

the cleanest i have found is remington cyclones. they work in everything i own, even my OLD mossberg 151m that has hundreds of thousands of rounds through it. there are a lot of brands out there, and many of them are dirty! the only problem with dirty ammo, is it tends to foul up the workings, not the barrel. i have shot some ammo through my old mossberg that will jam it up in less than 100 rounds. no fun to quit after such a short range session.
