Check Altamont Grips to see if they have grips on sale for Black Friday. I got two sets of their Ruger Single Six/Wrangler grips for $20 each in 2019 (I didn’t need anymore grips so I didn’t look to see if a sale was still on for 2020)

These are the walnut grips I put on the Wrangler.

I put the same pattern grips in Rosewood on the Single Six.

Stay safe.
I put those rosewood grips on my Wrangler. I love mine.

more on the “stiff loading gate-free spinning cylinder” that i alluded to...

“Loading Gate and Cylinder

Secondly, the cylinder lock-up system is different–how and why isn’t that important or interesting, the key thing to know is that when the loading gate is open the cylinder can rotate BOTH directions. This makes loading and unloading nicer. It also means that the loading gate isn’t just a loading gate…the loading gate is connected to the cylinder lock-up so opening the gate cams a pin down to let the cylinder rotate. In the bottom gap under the cylinder, you can see the small locking bar in place–that is what you cam out of the way when opening the loading gate. This makes for a VERY stiff loading gate to open, but adds a level of safety.”

Seems like that writer has no other Ruger to compare to. Single Sixes made over the last several decades unlock the cylinder with the gate mechanism and single six gates are easy to open. I can’t imagine that a gate pulling the pawl/hand away would add that much force.

Thats kind of funny because I have read so many post about people saying they have never shot a mag round from their SS and consider the mag cylinder a waste. Like you I would like for it to come with a mag cylinder.

@BigBlue 94 Could you post a picture of your Birdshead mod and give a little detail of what you did? I think it looks great.
Here is my thread on it. Lemme know if you want more info on it

EDIT: forgot the link!

I have 2 SS. Both have the extra mag cylinder and both have been used, considerably.

When I carry one afield, it is always with the mag cylinder. If I come across a coyote, wild dog, or other vermin; the mag offers so much more over standard .22LR.

The NM SS shoots mags better than any LR, I have tried. The OM blue shoots everything, about the same.

Had 2 Heritage, 1 had both cylinders. The mag would shoot 6" 10 yard groups. Put it in the other one and got 4" groups. (best either gun would do, with any load)

Sold them, with the intent of getting 2 Wrangler.
The lack of mag cylinder was a turn off. Stumbled on the Single Sixes, at a great price, and couldn't stop myself.

Price being your main point, the Wrangler is well worth the few $$ more. IMO

A good Single Six can be double or more.
But, they are Da Bomb

I do. Either of those choices will run close to twice the price, if not more.

I like the NAA revolver line; have two of them. They're certainly quality pieces. A Wrangler (or similar gun), at its price point, is all one needs for snake shot purposes. Also, if the OP was intrigued by having a WMR option, the Heritage Rough Rider, with both cylinders, still comes in at or under Wrangler price territory (I have two of them, too.)
If price is that big a factor, then by all means. The NAA's I listed are like $300, are smaller and lighter, made of good steel, and for snake shot do the job just as well as any other revolver.

That's what I paid for my Magnum-only 1860 Sheriff, before adding some genuine elk stag (almost typed "elf stag", probably not a good idea this time of year!) stocks to it. I also have a nice, three-inch stainless Taurus 941 I picked up a couple of years ago for $225. That is one handsome gun. Good luck finding one for that now.
