Conclusion to this thread

https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...rangler-bore-no-wonder-its-inaccurate.915415/

Both my Wranglers keyholed out the box.
One had visible cerakoting in the bore.
Sent them in once, ruger returned them untouched.
I sent them back with a test target full of keyholes.

Today Ruger emailed me. Both revolvers unsafe to repair. Replacements of new wranglers or other ruger products offered.

No more wranglers for me. If I could be positive of getting good ones as replacements I'd consider, but they are too hit or miss for me. I don't want to go through the same thing all over again.

It was a pretty big pain, and I'm still a bit peeved that they sent two obviously defective guns back to me but in the end they did treat me right.
Two wranglers means I can take any 2 of rugers guns at manufacturers cost minus msrp of the Wrangler....

Right now I'm leaning towards a rpr in .338 for $1150 and an sfar for $550.

My first Wrangler also keyholed and Ruger replaced it. The second one had problems in the cylinder and I had to remove the cylinder and drive out the empities with a hammer and dowel in three of the chambers.. I fixed this myself but then found that it also was a keyhole shooter. I traded it for some mini-mags. Now have had three dud 22 pistols from Ruger. First was an SR22 whose barrel could not be tightened to the frame. It will be a while before I buy any Rugers.

same thing happened with me about ten years ago when i sent an old ruger bearcat purchased from gb.com in for the transfer bar safety upgrade. ruger told me that its innards were toasted and offered any ruger single action revolver as a free replacement because the bearcat was out of production then. two weeks later i was the happy owner of a free ruger blackhawk 357/38/9 convertible.

do you have a single six?

WOW!

Oh, great. Buy a $375 tool to fix a $200 gun or, in my case, ship it to a gunsmith which isn't exactly cost effective either. If you lived in an area where you could just drive across town and get it done it might make "cent's".
Excuse me for sharing, I don't know what I was thinking.

Glad to see Ruger took those guns back, they certainly were not very good ones at all. :(

Stay safe.

I was seriously considering getting the LCRx in .22 soon, now I'm wondering if Charter isn't a bad idea even tho they have been having qc issues lately.

I'd go with the SFAR.

I wasn't getting on you for sharing. I was simply pointing out that unless you already own the tool or a gunsmith's services are close by it doesn't make economic sense. Sorry you took it negatively. as that wasn't my intention. I could have worded my reply better also.
