.22 derringer High Standrd

Hey guys, I was just at my neighbors house. This is a little old woman that her husband died a few weeks ago. He was a very good friend of mine and we talked about guns all the time . I have many many guns. Autos, and revolvers and so did he. There is one gun he always talked about , This gun is a Hi Standard Derringer .22 Cal. Model D-100...Serial # 1294944....
Of all the .45's, 9mm, Shotguns, and many more , .. he loved this little gun for some reason. This little Baby has true ivory stocks he put on it , and the blueing is at 99%....just like new and i think it was born in 1962. Anyway, Mary beth, that little old woman, knew we talked guns and gave the Derringer to me. i will keep it always. Doesnt matter what the value is, but is a cool little .22. Does anyone out there have one of these cool little guns. ?

I have had one or more in 22 magnum for more than 20 years. At one time they were popular backups for LEOs, carrying it in a wallet holster in the weak side rear pocket. If a guy was trying for a gun grab of your duty gun you could pull the little double action two shot and put one or two in his melon. The wallet holsters are still out there on the used market, however, BATF changed the game with the stroke of a pen. Now if you carry that gun in a wallet holster that shoots without removal from the "wallet", it becomes a restricted weapon requiring special registration, tax stamp, etc., as an AOW.

yeah, I have one, 22LR, bought NIB many many moons ago, pretty much still "like NIB"
mostly because it really isn't much use for anything, one of those "just because" guns, you know, cute

I shoot it a little bit maybe once every other year
everybody needs a few "just because" guns
the 22WMR version is more appealing, but they hold up rather poorly if shot a lot, alloy frame.. loud, though, I bet

I had one, shot the holy heck out of it,and it held up just fine. Safariland made a good legal regular clip on the belt holster for it, but don't try to use shotshells ... the lil' shot that they put in the .22 mag is really ineffective, I ended up haveing to kill a poor mutilated snake with a rock.Solid slugs only.

I have one in blue. Like new. Not really much value to them. Maybe $250 Max. As with guns of that period the reliability was in question. I think yours has a story that is worth keeping for you.

I had one back in the 1980's. If you remove the stocks the High Standard derringer becomes a very flat easy-to-hide little gun.

I've had a magnum for over 30 years. Like a lot of other LEs from the day, I carried it as a backup in my shirt pocket. I've even got a Roy Baker Pancake holster for it.

There's a LR on the shelf at my local dealer. Might make a good backup with the Aguila SSS round.

Who said it was an autoloader? I assumed everyone was talking about the two shot over/under derringer.
