I often see many scopes listed as rimfire or airgun scopes. Nikon has a good deal going on their Prostate target EFR 3-9x40 on sale for $139. (Although it is currently on backorder just about everywhere the price is good until April)
I was wondering if the scope could be used on a centerfire rifle?
Is it a question of recoil or just best suited to the .22 rimfire
Thanks

It will likely not hold zero well on a centerfire.
BUT, I listing as an Airgun scope means it can handle to odd backwards recoil they have, most scopes cant to that.

I'd be willing to bet most rimfire scopes would handle most low-to-moderate recoiling centerfires. The cheapest of them probably wouldn't, of course, but they'd probably be horrible on a rimfire as well.

You do need to be aware that parallax for rimfire scopes (if not adjustable) is typically set at 50yds or so, while centerfires are usually 100yds+.

Since the EFR is adjustable, what are you intending to use it on? A 6lb 300 win mag would be a bit much. An 8lb ar15 would probably be fine.
