Hi all,
in regards to the Weatherby XXII, as KarlG mentioned, they tend to bring higher $-I was fortunate enough to get good buys on two of these at auctions, one is a Japan model and one is an Italian. Both have darker wood than I've seen on others-not sure about this but I was told by a local gun dealer that the darker wood is rare and most are a "blond"...??? I have been extremely happy with both guns though :D

If you want to have some more fun with a 10/22, check out this cool stock that takes standard fixed or collapsing AR buttstocks:

Wow, thanks for all the replys guys. I'm still looking around and trying to decide when I can afford to do it. (poor college student and all that) I need to take a look around town at a couple of pawn shops and see what they've got. See if I might be able to get a deal on something.

I haven't seen them new in a few years, but Remington make a model 522 the "viper" Was mostly synthetic material & plastic, but was a riot to shoot. :) Found a few on gunbroker.com for around $100

Marlin mod 795 shoot report

Got back from Reds 10 rds at 25 yds were in about a dime size at 50 I messed up and tak a bill and fold in half and that would cover it. At 100 yds it was about the same as 50. All and all it was me they did not do it right I will next time The rifle did its job. The scope has a adj ring from 3 to 9 but I can not find any other # on it.

Good used 22 Rifles

If you are looking for a new 22 rifle and want quality there are several ways to go. The 1022 is good in standard form and a target model is also available. They will feed just about anything. CZ makes some very nice rifles and accurate for a good price and the workmanship i feel is outstanding.
MY CHOICE; I own four different 22 rifles. My latest one about a year old is the Thomson Center Classic. It will hold 1/2 inch to 3/4 groups all day long at 50 yards with the little 2X7 weaver on it. Probably would do better with a higher magnification scope. It has a match chamber so some of the cheap ammo will not feed well through it. I use Remington Eley, CCI Mini-Mags and my old standard Winchester Super X. It has looks to kill with a nice wood stock and accuracy and workmanship with a clip which is a heavy , Heavy, alluminum casting.
ANOTHER OPTION: Check out the used gun racks at a reputable dealer. I have a Remington 552 Speedmaster i purchased last summer for 125.00 and it will never be for sale. I love that gun. Curt in Washington State

For a plinker I'm happy with my MagTech 7022. It's made by CBC in Brazil and was also sold under the name Mossberg 702 Plinkster. Decently accurate with iron sights. Functions OK, came with two 10 round magazines and cost me $72 + tax.
