22 Semis - experiences?

My Buckmark was a bit picky with ammo but it was a great shooter. Traded it off and now just have DA .22 revolvers...

none of the above?

I have a S&W 22A, haven't shot it, will probably sell it. the grip is like shaking hands with a 2x4.

If you shoot 1911s, buy or build a dedicated receiver, and get a conversion slide.

But of the choices mentioned, I'd favor the Buckmark. I've looked at both, read all the various posts. Never seen a bad work about the Browning, and the ergonomics work better for me.

But the Beretta NEOS might be better for picking up women at the range - sorta like taking a puppy to the park :D

I've got a buckmark slabside and a MkIII .22/45 both. The ruger takes a bit more effort to learn how to break it down and reassemble it, but once you know how, it's not a big deal. The buckmark is easy, but you have to have a tool to do it. I don't like having to carry tools to the range...

My buckmark doesn't run as well dirty as the ruger does. I have to scrub the action clean every 500 rounds or so, or it starts having ejection problems. The ruger? That's the one my daughters shoot most... it has seen several thousand rounds between cleanings without issue.

All told, I like my buckmark better, mainly because I shoot better with it. I wouldn't give up either of them, but if I had to recommend one, I'd probably recommend the ruger.

A good .22lr pistol is something that no self respecting shooter should be without!

A conversion kit for the 1911 is a good option. I have had good results with the
Ciener units.

My pastor and his son each got neos recently and I got a ciener conversion. The neos is fun to shoot, but I like my trigger better. Either way, the ammo price and range time is worth a 22.

The Ruger isn't really that difficult to disassemble. Just make sure you have a printed set of directions with step by step instructions with you when you do it. The instructions are only really necessary because I tear them down so infrequently that I forget in between times. It's really just a matter of holding it in certain positions wile you put it backtogether. This allows certain parts to fall into position for easy reassembly.

I like Buckmarks!

I like Colt Woodsmans, Hi-Standards ( from Dura-matics on up the line) Rugers ( I still like the old Standard Model) , Beretta Cheetah, Beretta 21A ( not a fan of Neos, sorry), S&W 422/622/2214, ...

But you can't have a Colt Woodman...I'll think of a good reason later, just you can't have one. *wink*

Get a Buckmark - Save the Woodsmans for others stingy like me...*smirk*

I've owned the Ruger gov't competition 6 7/8 bbl'd pistol which was awesome (but too big and heavy for the field), I've owned a sig trailside, a Walther P22, an (older style) 22/45

Only the Ruger could come close to my current URX micro buckmark - and it has a 4" barrel on it.

So, in one word: BUCKMARK.

Mine will shoot < 1" 10-shot groups @ 25 yards...

For my 50th I got a Colt Huntsman that was made in my birth year. Really nice condition, a gem to hold.

Still haven't fired it .... life stuff.... but this spring we will be introduced.

Dissapointed with the Ruger

I just bought a Ruger Mark III Target. I struggled with what .22 to buy in order to keep up on my shootng and not end up in the poor house. I deceided on the Mark III and now I wish I'd kept looking.

After the first 200 rounds the Ruger logos fell off the plastic grips, 200 rounds after that the front sight fell to the floor and the rear sight nearly slid off.

I ordered upgraded grips and sights from Ruger and it took weeks for them to finally ship the order.

It's a good gun that is very poorly crafted/assembled. It is poorly designed and poorly assembled. It all goes back to "you get what you pay for". If you're looking for a "cheap" gun, the Ruger fits the bill in both price and quality.

Take it out for a shooting session. I think it will surprise you. I have a 22A and it been a great shooter.

Sounds like you bought a stainless model. Clean the sight screw holes out with alcohol and use a dab of blue loctite on the screws.
