Do .22 Gallery rifles chambered in .22 short have a different barrel twist rate than the same rifles in 22 LR? I have read that the short's 29 grain bullet should have a 1 to 14 twist rate for accuracy. The author also stated that most .22's chambered for all; 22 S, L. LR have a 1-16 twist rate and that is the reason accuracy suffers in many .22's with short ammo and not caused by the longer chamber as you read in many threads. Does anyone have any specific information on the old Remington & Winchester gallery rifles as to what rate of twist they used with the .22 short?
