Now days you can pretty much pick one and itll be a shooter. And pretty cheap to boot.
Axis, American, Compass, etc shoot as good as any factory rifle for next to nothing. Cheaply made, not usually beautiful, but work horses nonetheless.
Their ability plus a little more of an heirloom quality and good looks and something that is built to last will cost more. Usually wont print much tighter groups but will look better doing it. Tikka, Vandgaurd SII, Howa, CZ, Rem, etc.
I have some of each in various calibers. Cheaper ones to drag through the woods and a little nicer ones to punch paper and leave my sons.
Depends on what your after. I use my CZ 527 Varmit and Ruger Ranch alot. Both 5.56/223. Love both, the CZ tends to outshoot the Ruger just a fuzz but the Ranch is handy and i dont worry about scratching it. It also shoots PDG. The CZ 527 carbine would shoot good and be handy. Just wouldnt want to skin it up.
All in what your needs are. Good luck
