.223 endangered species?

According to my 1971 Hornady Manual, the .223 will never be a serious contender for civilian use as it is inferior to the .222 and any way as amilitary cartridge is not readily available for use by civilians.

Of course it's endangered, it never got started!

I thought it was an interesting article. I'm still not sure the investment would be worth it. However, there is something to be said for self reliance and the ability to make your own bullets.
