I am planning to by a 22lr Upper for my AR-15 M4 clone, mainly because I cannot shoot 223 other than at 300m in my usual range, and also because 223 is a bit too expensive for regular plinking (and also because when supressed the 22lr is just stealthy.. and I can shoot in my property) ..

Since I cannot get a Ciener or other conversions that are more popular, do any of you have an experience with the Sabre Defense indistries Upper in 22lr and the conversion ???

I have found a new one, with 2 magazines at half the SDI official price and will most probably get it this week..

if you have any advice/clue about this purchase, let me know.

I bought a Spike's M4 clone upper, Liked it so much that I put a dedicated lower underneath it. It will run between 500 and 750 rounds of Federal bulk between having to pull it down annd clean the bolt and receiver. Extremely reliable only problems I have had are the occassional extremely low power round out of the Federal Box. I'm not very good on the bench but the group size at 50m is about 3" with the iron sights. Give Angela at Spikes a buzz.

Is the Ceiner prohibited by law in your country? Illegal to ship gun parts internationally?

nothing is illegal here...

the biggest problem is to get the products to leave USA..

It's written in Spike's website that they DONT export enything outside USA unless it is in their wear section (whch mean no firearms or firearms parts)

You can find many Ciener conversions in Switzerland, but mainly for 1911 pistols.

The problem when going through an exporter, is that the price will get twice bigger..

Midway sells ciener conversion kits (when in stock) and they sell internationally. I believe there is a minimum order amount but if you have a few itmes or a few friends I bet you could manage it.

I always thought that since we have midway.ch (Switzerland), that midway wouldnt export anything..

I am affraid that if it goes through midway.ch, it will increase it's price by 2 or 3 times.

Anyway, I will have a look at it. Thank you for the tip.

I would however recommend, building an upper with the correct caliber bore. If you use the regular AR bore, you will get poor accuracy. And with every .22 conversion I have used, I use Stingers or Velocitors. I find the hotter rounds cycle the heavier bolts/slides more reliably.

Olympic Arms said today that their RFA should be shipping in two to three weeks. Bad news is a big distributor placed an order today and it is feared us common folk may not have many to recieve after that order is filled.

They no longer offer the original M261 ten round magazines and ship with a Black Dog 25 rounder.

Ausgetzeichnet! On my next business trip to Switzerland I plan on bringing my CCW!

What for? When I was in Switzerland back in the early 80s, I walked around the streets of Zurich and Bern without the slightest problem. Then again, might have something to do with the "more guns, less crime" thing with a LOT of firearms in the houses. Hmm, all those guns, the place didn't turn into Leabanon, I never felt like I should fear for my life...I wonder if things would be the same in LA, DC or New York???

Grunt, its not Lebannon, nor LA or DC or NY, but here things has changed from the early 80s..

More people knifed for nothing, happy slappings, rapes, and other stuff like that..

mostly because those "traditions" were imported with immigration from east/south east europe, but also, maybe, because in the early 80s , carrying was allowed, and free in most places of Switzerland.. who knows..
