For varmint control only...

I've seen a couple of ballistic tests with the CCI but nothing with Winchester. Does anyone know which one is more effective (humane)? It looks to me like the Winchester may be a better performer. Please vote and state your reasons why. Also, please post links to tests if you have them... or please post your own results.

CCI is my pick, does a fantastic job on small furry critters, generally it'll leave four holes in the carcass, one entry, three exit, and a broken bone or two to top it off.

The other, somewhat non-frangible round I have on my top ten list is Aquila's Super Maximum - 1730fps of critter smiting power.

didn't vote cus i have no experience with the Winchesters but the CCI segmented HPs do nasty things on impact

Sorry that I didn't vote but for 22's I steer clear of the lighter frangible rounds. My experience with Quik-Shoks have been that over penetration can be a problem with frangibles also. A more frangible polymer tipped 22 mag or 17 is a better choice or highly frangible CF like Hornady's 22 Hornet round. When it's not a concern I use Winchester Power Points, CCI Mini-Mags or CCI SGBs 90% of the time.

CCI Quick Shok works best on my squirrel infestation. but i prefer Winchester 555 bulk ammo for two reasons. 1- its cheaper. 2-it works

I have been reading some reviews on the Aquila on guy shot a yote at 35 yards and according to him one shot drop.

Out of maybe a dozen different types of ammo in my 10/22, QuikShok gave me the tightest groups--to my surprise. And it did horrible things to the one rock squirrel I shot with it. DRT.
