Got a mail flier this week from Gander Mountain. Unusual was that it had 22 LR advertised. Gander Mo8untain Twinsburgh, Ohio is right across from an Irish Pub I like for great corned beef. So today I took the 10 min drive out there for lunch. Federal 525 (Champion) Round value pack at $24.99. Not great but not bad with a limit of one per customer. No, I did not call my wife and ask her to come get one. :) The place wasn't busy and it seldom is.

So far as to brick and mortar I have been seeing 22 LR at Gander Mountain and also Cabela's (Columbus, Ohio). Locally for me that Gander Mountain has had 22 LR quite a bit throughout this shortage. All I wanted was some 45 Colt and of course a few corned beef sandwiches today. :)

Little by little 22 LR is following the other ammunition in returning to store shelves.

I was at Walmart, i saw the information sheet saying tomorrow they have CCI ammo. $7.50 a box of 50. Quite high for that matter. I m not interested.

I received a case of .22lr today from Midway that I had ordered on 11/08/2013. They were taking backorders at the time. It came to a little under $0.05 a round, shipped.

Depends on which CCI 22LR ammunition it is. That price isn't that high at all for some flavors of CCI. A box of CCI Velocitor Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Plated Lead Hollow Point Box of 50 typically runs around $6.00. Some CCI target flavors run more than that so it all depends on which flavor. Simply saying CCI Ammo 50 round box doesn't say much. Not without a description anyway.

Little by little the stuff is coming back. Just keep in mind, one little incident and it becomes DejaVue. It's a fragile system.

All walmarts could probably be well stocked with CCI brand .22 LRs for tomorrow's fateful day. LOL. Theres going to be a long line for sure but im not interested. Academy has the Champion brand for $2.30 a box. Just perfect for plinking .

Local Walmart selling CCI .22LR 40gr "Standard Velocity 1070fps Target" @$7.95/100.

UPC 76683 00979

At least 50 boxes visible in display, clerk stated there is possibly more not on display. No stated purchase limit, no lines. Florida.

I had my wife and her friends pick up some of the Wal-Mart ammo for me. It is the CCI 40gr lead standard velocity for $7.47/100 with a limit of three boxes. I was set up at a local gun show and one of the dealers was selling mini-mags for $6.75/100 with a limit of five so I picked up some of those. Several other dealers had Federal and Remington bulk ammo at way below what it has been selling for. The idiocy may just be over! I hope.

They had a promotion today. Every Walmart store was supposed to have at least 300 boxes of that, not to be sold until 8:00 AM this morning.

Some people have been able to pick it up into the afternoon/evening.

I checked one of my stores this afternoon but they didn't have any, and I wasn't willing to go in the morning for a 3 box limit.

Every Walmart store was supposed to have at least 300 boxes of that [...]
Do you seriously believe that? What I mean is, where is the rest of it... that accounts for some 120 million rounds domestically.

Panama City store, Tyndall Parkway.
Lines started about 7:15 AM. Limit was 300 rounds total or 1 bulk pack. My wife and I went with Federal 325rd boxes at $20.20 after tax. I called again this afternoon at approx 1:00 p.m. and they had a very limited amount left.

Maybe I mis understood and it wasn't every store, but of the people who went to there's this morning in expectation and posted about, they all 'hit'. It was supposed to be a big thing Walmart was preparing for for some time, holding the ammo and sending it to the stores (corporate handling that) for the event.

Apparently somebody posted this on ar15.com, said there were 10+ boxes at his store (you can see at least a second to picture right)

Check the label: "Walmart Black Friday Promo"

22 magnum

After a severe drought of 22 magum ammo I finally ran accross this caliber at Academy. Luckily my wife was with me so I was able to purchase 4 boxes of 22 magnum and 4 boxes of 22lr.

The price was pretty decent for the 22 mag at $11.99 cci maxi-mag, and $7.99 for the box of cci 22lr 100 count. I applaud Academy for not price gouging like most places have especially at gun shows. Academy still has a 2 box limit per customer.

When I bought my .22mag about 6mos ago it was really tough to find, usually requiring one to shop around and/or just get lucky. Fortunately I only shoot it in my Single Six and at the range, so I usually only shoot 6-12 rounds of .22mag in a trip (the rest being .22lr), thus a box lasts several trips to the range. Lately, however, Bass Pro has been getting a lot more .22lr & .22mag. EDIT: BP even had the 200 count "'choot em" boxes of .22mag for around $42 IIRC.

That seems to be the going price for CCI MiniMags ($7.99/100), where I'm at as well. Still haven't seen any .22 Magnum ammo though.

22 mag around here has been fairly steadily available. Every time I went to the store to check for some 22lr, I would find only 22 mag. So I bought some. I now have around 600 rounds of the stuff. I need to buy something to fire it out of.

Speaking to the availability of standard velocity CCI, I have seen quite a bit of it lately. I bought a brick at a gun show last month in Topeka,,KS for $40, no tax. The guy had about 10 bricks. I walked around a bit and decided to go back and buy more, but it was all gone. Another table had it for $55, but he seemed to have no takers. I offered him $40 and he just shook his head. Those of you who are tempted to buy standard velocity should be aware that it often does not cycle well through some pistols. I use it to hunt squirrels as it is very accurate in my Rem 541S.

Sometime back I bought 300 rds. of Winchester super x .22 lr. the first 100 had 5 duds. Today I started on the 2nd 100 and 25 rds later had a head blow off the case, I noticed the difference when I fired, louder report, more smoke at the breech. the case was in the chamber but the head was gone. I'm thankful it wasn't one of my big guns.

Walmart in Farmville Virginia yesterday.
Clerk had 3 cases behind the counter.
CCI 100rnd box for $7.95 One box per customer.
Clerk was acting like a street corner crack dealer. :D
Eased up next to me while I was looking in the nearly empty ammo case and kinda whispered "Are you looking for 22LR?"
"I got some behind the counter."
Saw him do the same to several other shoppers after me.........

Nope - not cool at all.

1. I've been (repeatedly) told by Walmart it's against company policy to store / hide ammo under the counter.
2. How many folks had checked the case (where it's supposed to be), and not finding any 22 there continued on their way?

Local East Peoria Walmart had 100 round boxes of CCI SV in the case, quite a few it looked like for $7.xx. I'm finally in a place where I didnt just buy .22 on sight, so I let it be, seeing as I was actually on the hunt for .17hmr.

Finally got some this morning my local Wal-Mart still had 16 boxes left over from the 4ths promo event and I ended up with six of them (my limit + my mom getting me a birthday present lol) when we left there was only one box left

Stopped into Bi-Mart yesterday, 10/5/2014
They had 8 bricks of Winchester M-22 for $24.95 each.
We each bought a brick.
At .05 a round it was a good deal.
They also had several 50 round boxes at .05 a round.
Still limited to 100 rounds or 1 brick.
I think it's finally safe to resume shooting my .22s.
