Due to my aging eyes/increased difficulty using iron sights, I've decided that I'd like to get a .22LR revolver and put a handgun scope on it. I plan on using this set-up for 25 yard informal (non-competition) target shooting. So far I'm looking at a this Ruger revolver and Weaver handgun scope:

I'd apprecaite any opinions/info on this revolver and scope, or any other recommendations for a different handgun scope. Thanks.

You would probably do just as well with a straight 2X scope as the higher magnifications will almost require a rest. Another option is a red dot scope. It has no magnification, but it's a lot easier putting the dot on target than trying to see the iron sights.

I agree that the best optic for a handgun, unless it's going to be rested, is a red-dot. It's fast to pick up and suffers no issues of eye relief (so you can shoot the pistol in any old style).

That single six with a dot would be a great setup, I think.

Majic, and ChristopherG thanks for your replies and info. I'll look at lower (x2) magnification handgun scopes, or if I do go with the red dot, a Ultra Dot 4MOA red dot sight. This month I've already bought a Browning Buckmark Sporter .22LR rifle, a Savage limited edition "Mako" .22LR rifle, and put a Savage MK II-FVT .22LR rifle on layaway. So it'll be at least another month or two before I can afford the Ruger and optic.

Seldfenz, the MK II-FVT I ordered (on layaway) from a local gunshop. The Mako I bought on gunbroker, I tried three local gunshops, but none of them could get one.
