So I was given some lead 44mag loads that are loaded with win 231 and 240gr HCGC 1000FPS and 1200FPS. I can’t find any data for 231 and this cartridge so I want to pull the bullets and save the brass, primers and bullets. I only have a 44mag rifle so I’m guessing lead bullets won’t be too great out of it? Can lead bullets be pulled and saved?

If you use a kinetic puller, you "might" be able to save them. Unlikely with a collette. I would measure every one of them to make sure they are usable.

RCBS lists 231 10.6 max for the 44-245-SWC plain base

Hodgden lists 11.0 max for 240 lead SWC 240 grain

You were "given" these loads. Do you trust completely the person that loaded them? The FPS does nuttin' to tell us the powder charge. How did the the person that loaded them get the FPS, from a chrono or just a WAG? The load itself, if it indeed is true and legit, is not dangerous. Might not shoot well from your carbine, but they certainly won't blow it up. Again, if the load is legit.

Brother in laws brother in law. I searched 3 manuals and didnt find the charge so figure it was some home brew stuff. I have no use for a 1000fps lead load other than punching paper. I figure if I could at minimum use the cases and primers I would do that.

Pull and few and get a weight on the powder. If your sure it’s 231 and the weights are within published data levels shoot them. Assuming of course you trust the source.
