You guys are missing the two biggest holes of all...

1. The Stealth "fighter" ISN'T a fighter at all - it's an attack aircraft. It HAS NO air-to-air combat capability - it's whole reason to exist is to drop bombs (precision guided or otherwise) - no guns, no A2A missles, (also no gun sight or AAM firing system...). Unless AF1 was parked on a ramp, the only way a YF117 could hurt it is to ram it...which brings us to problem #2...

2. The YF117 is subsonic...all AF1 has to do is pick a direction, open up the throttles, and there is no way for a 117 to CATCH it.

I love the show, but unfortunately I don't have time to schedule it on on TV every week. I get the dvd's instead. Threads about the guns of 24 are great to read, but if you're going to divulge plot points, please please please throw a spoiler alert on there. Thanks, guys!

I was thinking that exact same thing

...last night! He's going against an organized terror cell. A rifle would help. You'd think they'd make much better tactical perimeters, too. Marwan(sp?) has just "slipped around" more than once.

Thats what I told my wife during the show, bombs only. I figured they would bomb the place where the prez was going to give the press conference, maybe even a nuke, but I guess they decided for something a little more far fetched.

Pyopspec,

Sorry for not including **SPOILER ALERT** before my post. Bad form on my part, won't happen again.

I thought the F-117 was only an attack aircraft; however it has an F designation, so are you sure that it isn't air to air capable? I have never heard of it being used air to air, but that doesn't mean it can't. I just don't see why the air force would suddenly start using the "F" for a non fighter. This is worth looking up.

Alright, I hit the motherload! Go check out this link for F-117 information and a possible explination of what it has an F designation. It appears that it might technically be possible for it to carry a Sidewinder, but highly unlikely and very impractical. With that being said, any stealth fighters carrying sidewinders around Los Angeles would probably be a well know event around the Air Force; at least with someone who would know the President is in the area and a possible target. Also the F-15 pilots would probably have some night vision and be able to see the F-117 when it got within range of the AF1 and been able to engage with its cannon or maybe even a missle of some sort.
