.243 Win OAL

Please forgive my stupidity. Still learning. Ok I loaded some .243win with 100gr. Sierra Gamekings and when I measured the chamber length with a case/bullet I got 2.6475". Now I switched over to Hornady Interlocks 100gr and measured the chamber and got 2.7150". Probably a stupid question but is that anywhere near normal lol? Also the hornadys have a cannelure but the case mouth isn't near it. Can I crimp anyway?

Yep. Normal. Different bullets have different ogives.

No need to crimp a rifle round unless it's a tube magazine rifle like a .30/30.

Forget the cannelure and seat to whatever length your rifle shoots best.
No crimping is required or wanted for a .243. Max OAL is 2.710". Seat for that length and you'll be fine. Mind you, the 5 thou difference won't matter.

Thanks guys! Btw why wouldn't I want to do a factory crimp? Is there an advantage to not crimping?

Yes.

Usually better accuracy.
No need to crimp for a bolt-action.
And longer brass life without case neck cracks if you don't.

That's reason enough for me.
