I would so buy this if I had the $ and wasn't in the middle of the Oregon Gun registration fiasco , This is the BOMB!

I keep watching those, but I'm just not willing to go that high when I can rebarrel an 1894 .357 and wind up with a rifle I like more at a lower price point. Just wouldn't be able to run spitzers.
I'd grab a clean 62 at the ~$800 mark, but I'm still not enamored with the Ruger-esque lines of the gun. The 96 series are pretty much the ugliest lever actions ever made, and the 56, 57 & 62 held that title before them, having only slightly more graceful lines.
Did your savage sporter come with rings and bases? Do you know a source for them? I haven't even started to look yet.I personally wouldn’t even bother with gunbroker.
With the fees and taxes they charge I’ve completely stopped trading there.
I picked up this Savage Sporter off Gunsinternational for $450.00, no sales tax, no Gunbroker fees, total to my FFL was $475.00.

This refinished Marlin Model 27S I picked up at a Gunshow last summer for $300.00

And it’s an exceptional shooter.
5 rounds at 50 yards off the bench with my handloads.

As has been shared, if you look around, expand where you shop, know what a good deal is and what is not, you’ll end up with what you want at a price you want to pay before too long.
Hope it's not the one that had no mag and the seller didn't say anything about it until I PMed him. A good original mag goes for $100+It's a Christmas miracle. I just found a Savage Sporter in 25-20 A.K.A mdl23 over on gunbroker for $472 to my ffl. I figure if I don't like it I'll at least be able to get my money back out of it at that price.

Pictures show mag in place.Hope it's not the one that had no mag and the seller didn't say anything about it until I PMed him. A good original mag goes for $100+
Mine appears to already have been drilled and tapped. Some say they came from the factory?
The pictures make it seem like weird placement but I won't know anything till next week when I actually get it in hand.View attachment 1119881 View attachment 1119882
I'm somewhat annoyed with Lee, who told me they can't be bothered with .25 cal molds because there isn't enough market. With CNC machining, it ought to be an hour's effort or less to build a program to make them.
