I've been using RL22 for about the last 15 or so years, but prior to that I worked with IMR-4350 just about exclusively with 130 gr. bullets. And still, if I needed a good accurate high velocity load for the .270, I would hesitate for a second to use IMR-4350. Back when I loaded regularly with the 4350, my slightly enhanced 700 action was shooting sub moa @ every bit of 3150 fps with 130 gr. Speer Hot Cores. That has been one deadly effective hunting combination for everything from antelope, elk, deer, and even black bear since I began reloading 30 some years ago.
RL19 is also a great powder for .270, but for a field tested proven effective combination, I don't think anything can perform with any more predictability, than a worked up charge of 4350. You can certainly make due with a few others, but to really obtain the full potential of that cartridge, I recommend going with what has been field tested, and practically endorsed by the firearm industry, and hunting legend, Jack O'Connor. That wonderful man was known to hunt just about everything with a .270 win, and his powder of choice was IMR-4350, "lot's of it", as he was quoted as saying more than once. I once read a quote by him in a magazine many years ago, in which he was asked what load he liked the most when loading for the .270 win.. His reply, Oh, I would say a full charge of IMR-4350 and a 130 gr. Hot Core. When asked what a full charge means, he said, I leave just enough room for the bullet to get started in the neck, so about 2/3 up the neck, probably 60 something grains. Jack's well documented history as a reloading and hunting guru, was actually what inspired me to begin reloading many years ago.
Sorry for the history lesson, but I thought that little tid bit could help shed some light on the .270 win, and IMR-4350, they were made for each other.
