I'm going to start to load .270 WSM, and am looking for a crimp die. I can't seem to find any mfr. Lee doesn't list one under "products" on its site, nor do Midway, Mid-South or Cabela's show any for sale online.

So is that because the .270 Win. crimp die can be used? Will the WSM case (being a larger dia, and shorter) fit or not be a problem?

I called all 3 catalog co.s above today and being Sunday, their most knowledgeable people are not available to answer the question.

Thanks for any help.

The seating die on about any bottle-neck rifle 2-die die set will also crimp if you adjust it down to do so.

But why in the world do you want to crimp for a .270 WSM in the first place?

It's not needed whatsoever.

Neck tension alone is way plenty to keep the bullets from moving under recoil.

rc has it right, no need to crimp the 270WSM! Crimping is an added process that enters inconsistencies into the whole reloading game. Unless it is a must to stop bullet setback, don't do it. The 270 WSM will shoot better with out it.

The Whizzem cartridge series have much thicker case necks then normal calibers, and I doubt crimping would work anyway without collapsing the sharp shoulders.
