BCG 280 Ackley Improved XP-100. This custom XP-100 shoots so good, and everyone who has shot it loves it.
I finally was able to draw first blood with it on Friday morning. I used the 140 grain Accubond at 2961 ft./s. I set the magnification between seven and eight power, since I expected a close shot, and wanted a greater field of view. I also checked my parallax adjustment as well.
The beauty of the country we live in is, you can see forever, but at times it can be challenging, because they can see you too. It took me some time to figure out how to be able to make the stalk, and him not see me. I had terrain (creek bottom) and sage brush in my advantage, but the wind was almost coming from my back, so I knew there was a chance that could create a problem.
I had to be exposed slightly for a short period of time, before I got down into the creek/draw bottom, but I was far enough away, and he was looking the other direction, so it was not a problem.
I shot this buck at 204 yards. I crawled around 150 yards and then stomach crawled somewhere between 35 and 50 yards to make the shot. I had an opening in the sagebrush to my left, and I had almost made it to the stage, when the buck started moving to my left. Since I was on public\state land, and in a little bit he was going to be crossing on to private land, it was time to get things done.
The gun is so capable of shooting so much further, but the stalk was fun.
I am looking forward to shooting the 160 class bullets out of this, and see how it compares with my 284 Winchester XP-100’s.
I shot the top of his heart out. 696C8B8A-9AB9-4186-99A2-6FC19F2522A4.jpeg 6DC3106A-1944-45A4-AE4E-B7AF668BFD08.jpeg

Wow! That was a great shot on an awesome Pronghorn .

That XP looks like it’s ready for anything, it’s pretty clear you’ve dialed it in for those lengthy shots those wary antelope often require. Very nicely done setting the gun and load all up :).

Stay safe.

Very nice animal and handrifle!
Whats the tube length on that thing, its slinging 140s nearly as fast as factory spec!

You have the coolest hand Canons lol, some good velocity to think that's close to what my dad used to get from his 14" 7 wsm striker. Really sucks we can't have these anymore here.
I think the magazine-fed ones arnt technically acceptable here either.....still see them from time to time lol.

Ill second that about hand cannons also, every time I open one of these threads I keep going on gunbroker and looking at them.....

I am not sure what it would be about magazine fed ones that wouldn't be allowed.
The Savage Striker and the XP-100R have internal magazine.
The newer Black Widow by Kauger Arms can be bought as a single-shot or with detachable magazine.

These are very easy to shoot, may dad even mad a sling years ago for the striker,it was kinda a one point. It workshop good you could hold the gun steady standing with both arms out like shooting a normal pistol.

One in 6ppc/6br would be cool, or now one in 6arc.

Ya know.....your right!
With the internal mags they should be legal. I didnt think about it but the law states a detachable mag cant be outside the grip.

Now it makes sense…A specific state law
We can't have them because there to heavy, try to make sense of that.
Yeah stupid state law.....weights an issue for us also 50oz or something like that.....

Anyway, I'm digging that 280AI.....and I like the mid grip look.....means no mag even if I wanted one I'd think.
