Best performing Foster type slug on the market, in my opinion. I've even shot them from a rifled barrel...no better, no worse than smoothbore.
I keep a few boxes for my deer camp backup/loaner 870

I can hit a paper plate at 100yds, standing, with my rem 1100 competition master all day.
They are great, wish i had more of em.

This is a bit of a side question. What advantage do you get with the 3” over the 2 3/4 with a 1 oz slug? With a Foster type it seems like all you would get is more wad spacers and it would function in fewer guns. I could see it in a brenneke type maybe.

Doubtful that there is much difference. These things stomp though. I fully intend to hunt with them this year. Anything short of DRT I would expect to be a miss.

I use the 1 1/4 oz federal 3" slugs. I got a few good deals on them and stocked up. I just use them for defense when I'm in the woods though when I'm squirrel/rabbit hunting. Keep my O/U loaded with one in the bottom barrel. Ive walked out on plenty of black bear. Someday one may be angry. Recoil is stout. But not bad

I've yet to obliterate a squirrel by using the wrong barrel btw.
