3-point jam on 1911, must be mag, right?

ok, so i took the 1911 to the range again. i have to mags. the jam happens on one of the mags only. the jam happens only when the slide is locked back, i insert the mag, and release the slide lock. the round jams.

1911 doctors, what is this sickness? mas spring? or should i just toss out the mag and get few new ones?

I'd bet on the magazine.

For starters, mags are the cause of most autoloader problems, tied only with fairy dust. Throw that magazine away and get a new one.

Secondly, it's only one particular mag. That kinda narrows it down right there. If it has a removeable floorplate, you may want to get a new spring for it. If it's a cheap mag, just replace it.

The thing that would make me look at the recoil spring as a culprit hasn't been mentioned. If your empties were going much more than five to seven feet, I'd look at getting a stiffer spring. If they're staying relatively close, your spring is most likely good.

Its a 1911, i dont know what the problem is, arent they supposed to do that?

On my Colt, the recoil spring was the culprit. It didn't have the power to get the bullet to bounce up off the feed ramp and line up with the chamber.

Quality mags are always best to have; but they may not be the trouble this time around. A spring is less expensive than a Wilson, CMC, or Tripp magazine.
