I just got back from the range where I chrony'ed five different 357 Magnum JHP loads through my 3" Ruger SP-101 snubbie. Average of 10 shots measured ten feet from muzzle.

Federal Personal Defense 130 Grain Hydra Shok Jacketed Hollow Point: 1315 fps

Federal Hydra-Shok 158 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point: 1184 fps

Remington 125 Grain Golden Saber Jacketed Hollow Point: 1215 fps

Speer Gold Dot 158 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point: 1027 fps

Winchester Super-X 125 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point: 1291 fps

The Federal 130gr "Personal Defense" load was by far the most pleasant to shoot with mild recoil and minimal muzzle flip. Recoil on the Fed 158 was stout with significant muzzle flip. Others were in between.

Following are some chrono results from 1 7/8" 340 scadium:

Scandium Chrono Results; 2 Each of the Following; Temp 70; 3 Paces from Muzzle (Approx 9 Ft.)

158gr CSWC 13.5gr H2400 at 1,085 fps

158gr JHP XTP 13.5gr H2400 at 1,001 fps
158gr JHP XTP 13.5gr H2400 at 1,017 fps

In my SP101 - 3", the last load (158gr XTP/2400) averaged 1,310 fps (57 fps es) for 5 shots -- that was the only one I have chronoed in the SP101. The lot of 2400 that I have may be on the warm side.
