I jsut picked up a CZ-550 in 30-06 and am in the process of bedding the action. I havent shot centerfire rifles ina long time and am not familiar with what types of ammo are availale. Am looking for recommendations for accurate loads in the 130-168 gr range. Will use the loads for whitetail hunting. I am not a reloader yet and will therefore test shoot several brands through the gun but would like to hear some recomendations before i start laying down a lot of cash for different loads.

Remington Express Core-Lokt. Not the most expensive, but the deer won't know the difference.

Regards.

Before I started to reload, I had great success with Rem 180gr PSP ammo. Was always very accurate out of my Win 70.

Now that I reload, I use 165gr bullets (Hornady)

Eschew the theoretical, embrace the empirical!

Test, test, test! Each rifle is effectively unique and you must test yours. My old Model 70 actually prefers the Federal High Energy 180 gr Nosler Partition and Hornady Light Magnum 180 gr loads, producing the best accuracy I get from factory ammo. When the local club sponsored a chrony and sight-in day at the range, both met or exceeded the advertised 2880 fps velocity and even beat several loads from .300 Win Mag rifles, much to the consternation of their owners. Accuracy and velocity: such a deal! Your mileage may (WILL!) vary.
