I would like to find an acceptable powder charge (or charge range) using H4831 with 150 grain bullets.

I know H4831 is a slow burning powder and not a good choice for pushing bullets this light. I use this powder for 180 grainers. My reason for wanting this load is because I have a handful of 150 grain bullets and only H4831 powder that I want use to fire form a bunch of brass. Basically, I don't really care about the projectile when fire forming.

Thanks,
DS

I agree with rc. Where's the load data manual? But with that said. I use H4831SC in my .30-06 for 165 grain and up...59 grains is my favorite with 165 HPBT and 180 SPBT...

Hodgdon online reloading data does NOT list H4831 for 150g bullets in .30-06. Nor does the book.

Lyman 48th lists:
150g Hornady 3031 Jacketed SP 3.200"oal
H-4831 Suggested starting 55.0g, 2,551fps @ 33kcup, max 61.5(compressed load) 2890fps @ 43,300cup

If you have Lyman 48th or 49th, better double check to make sure.

Thanks Ants.

Yes, I have more than a few reloading manuals. I have never seen this combination of powder and bullet weight nor would I expect to.

Thanks again Ants... I will look at my Lyman manual... I must have missed that.
