I’m having a tough time finding cast bullets for 30-30 reloads. They have to be 160 gr .30 cal cast LFN. Anyone know where to find these critters?
Thanks for the tip about Montana. My recipe doesn’t call for boat tails, but they’re still lead flat nose so I don’t see why they wouldn’t work. They’re for a 30-30.
Loading for a 336. Don’t really need gas check bases but there aren’t many sources for lfn bullets in 160 gr weight.
I run them in a micro groove. There is definitely nothing wrong with them.Whats wrong with the 165 gr from MBC?? 5 grains is insignificant, depends on the alloy.
The boolit I linked to is lubed and the gas check installed ready to load. So it's a Lead Flat Nose, "flat base". Exactly what you asked for You may not need a GC but it being there will allow a little more velocity without leading. The only "Recipe" I remember is what the Baldwin Sisters made on the Waltons. Get some other reloading data. I load for 5, 30-30s. 2 Marlin micro groove, 2 Winchesters and a Stevens 325 bolt action. All 150grn Lee FPGC from WWs. 160 isn't anything special. Adapt and over come. Thanks for the tip about Montana. My recipe doesn’t call for boat tails, but they’re still lead flat nose so I don’t see why they wouldn’t work. They’re for a 30-30.
If you you are interested in supporting small cottage industry, I have a friend who has been casting since 1967. He runs a bullet casting business out of his home. If you've ever met Ed, just meeting him made you a better person. He's one of those guys.
Here's the link to his website. You order from there.

I wonder if his boolits smell like maple syrup. If you you are interested in supporting small cottage industry, I have a friend who has been casting since 1967. from the end of the state with less inbreeding.
If it goes out the business end, he casts it. His die inventory is pretty complete.Nice! He casts .348 bullets... he might just need my business!
