I just got started into my lead bullet loads, i shoot a 357 magnum.
i have numerous 30 caliber rifles, and i cant afford jacketed bullets hardly.
Does anyone want to share load data, for any 30 caliber lead cast bullet and cartridge? im interested to hear what people like too use.

the only lead ive dealt with for 30 caliber is a 30/30
i use blackpowder compressed slightly with a 180 grain lead cast FP

Which bullet mold do you have? I use IMR 3031 with a Lyman #311041 cast bullet in the 30-30. That one is for hunting. And 2400 with a Lyman #311413 in the .308. The 30-30 load is about half way between start and max, but the ..308 is a very mild load because of that bullet style. If I pushed it fast at all I would have a great buckshot pattern.
I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Lyman's Cast Bullet Manual if you're going to do much with shooting cast. If nothing else you'll enjoy reading it.

i havnt started casting my own yet, its on the list of reloading priorities though :)
so right now im enjoying reading it, and hope this info can help others.

I bought a mould to use with 303 and 7.62x39mm, just haven't gotten to them yet. Probably in a months or so when it's good and chilly to run the pot.

Look at the Montana Bullet Works site. They make harder cast bullets than I've ever seen.

They can be pushed to factory jacketed velocity with no leading.
