I think I used 20.0 grains of H4895 and gave a solid roll crimp at the cannelure. Any lead came out easily with a bronze brush wrapped in copper scouring pad (Chore Boy). Nice recoil, bullet drops 4 inches at 100 yards (open sights), not much lead, and a real pleasure to shoot. Kids would easily handle this recoil, within reason, and you save a bit of money. I recommend the Lyman "M" die. It expands the mouth of the neck a bit and really is a must for the .30-30 cartridge. You can seat the lead bullets without the expander die, I did for awhile, but I bought one as soon as I found out about it and it makes it so much easier. Good luck.
