Is there a powder and loading recommended for the military M1 Carbine to keep from damaging the firing mechanism/ gas block/piston/op rod like there is for the M1 Garand?
Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any help.
Could this be because of varying bore diameters?BTW, some carbines shoot lead well and some don't. Seems to be no in between.
I'd suspect that it has more to do with the gas cylinder clearances than of the bores...which should be pretty much the same unless heavily worn or pitted. Depending on the age and mileage (and what kind of care it's had) with just a bit of sloppiness in the gas piston it might leak enough to not run well with reduced loads. I had an early Universal that ran great with factory ammo and full power reloads but never tried anything reduced...so everything is just speculation on my part.Could this be because of varying bore diameters?
