Oh you know I'm going to vote for the P95!! Have heard good things about the Sigma and the used 3rd gen S&W pistols.

Sig Sauer P2022 are great gun's and a steal for $350 or so.

Also the used S&W 5906 police trade-in's being sold by CDNN are wonderful guns.

Here's my S&W 5906 that I bought from them.

P95DC if you'll not be using it as a carry gun. Get stainless. Mine has fired thousands of rounds and is still my go-to house gun.

I suggest two, Norinco 213s or a Star MOD 30s. The Norinco is a 9MM Chinese Tok, a dead-nuts reliable and wickedly accurate pistol. The Star is one monster hi-cap DA/SA gun, as trouble-free, rugged and reliable a 9MM as one could ever hope for.

Don Davis (and others) has it right...

The 5906 has got to be about the best for an amazing quality gun at only $300. I've got three 3rd Gen S&W .45s and the quality is phenomenal for the price. If you can muster the extra $50 or so, the 2022 is the best bet if you actually plan to carry it. Well, that or the 6906. ;)

I honestly prefer Ruger revolvers to S&W. The metal pistols though? No contest in my mind... the nod goes to Smith 3rd gen over Ruger P- series.

I have owned a couple dozen 9mm's, and shot just about every flavor out there. While I love my Beretta 92 FS and Baby Eagle, and only let my CZ-75 go because I had to pay the mortgage, those three come in tied and second place to the 5906.

Super tough, accurate, comfortable, nice looking. IMO it is, hands down, the best combat 9mm ever made.

I'd recommend (because I own one, and it shoots wonders) a 5" Taurus 24x7 OSS 9mm. I got mine from academy for 379 new a few months ago. it shoots perfectly on target at 25 yards
