Glenn Bartley, it doesn't affect your own Life Membership benefits.
Both my sons are now Legacy Members and it hasn't affected any of my own Life Member benefits.
The "legacy" part of it merely implies that the whole idea of firearms ownership (and other related things) will be carried forward to a future generation. "Legacy," in that sense.
Hopefully, many generations.
So you don't have to die for the Legacy Membership to take effect.
NRA right now needs members to boost its political impact and make each of us gun lobbyists. Five million is better than four million. And two million (or whatever) Life Members is better than only one million --proving that the membership is highly dedicated, not just folks who signed up just to get hunting mags and The American Rifleman
And the NRA needs contributions. Let me add that any dollars sent to just about any RKBA organization will help --it doesn't have to be the NRA, although that happens to be my own preference because of the "gorilla in the room" effect, among other things.
I understand that the Brady Campaign has been soliciting contributions and new members for the same reason.
The Heller decision, while a "win," left a lot of work to be done in terms of lawsuits in other venues and in terms of defining what is "reasonable."
