I have a 300 Weatherby Mark V with synthetic original stock with HS recoil pad. I want to remove the recoil pad but cant find any screws even after poking a hole in the stock I can't feel any screws. How do I remove the recoil pad? I want to replace it. Its from the early 90’s. I got it back when you could get a 10k cd and they gave you a gun and scope for interest for ten years from a bank in Colorado.

If the pad is epoxied on, which seems likely, the new one would also need to be epoxied. I have removed glued on pads by carefully sawing the pad off with either a table saw or band saw. Cut slightly on the pad side of the joint after verifying there are truly no screws. Then remove the thin piece of the pad that is left with a stationary belt sander. The new pad is then epoxied on and dressed to fit as normal. Go to an experienced Smith who has done it before.
The HS service mentioned in the link in the previous post might be the best solution unless you have a good Smith.
