I hip shot a small whitetail buck once with my 243 (running). [No, the deer was running.] Guess I almost missed him as I spine shot him at 9 feet from a view above him. Thought you might enjoy that tale! 300 win mag would have worked too and I certainly wasn't braced against a tree.
