Does anyone have any experience with .308 Brown Bear ammo? I read a review on jgsales that says something about laquer melting into the person's gun. Didn't know if there were any users of said ammo on THR.

People always claim the laquer melts, but I have never had a problem.

I have shot brown bear in 7.62x39 in a very hot gun and it never melted.

steel cased ammo gets stuck in the chamber because it expands more than brass after it has been fired.

Has worked fine in my Saiga, Cetme, Polytech M14, and RRA LAR-308. Grouped about the same as South African Surplus.

Not bad ammo, I'll buy more if the price is right.

As long as you don't shoot it in a really hot gun, then let it sit a few minutes, it will shoot fine. If it cools inside the chamber it sticks itself to it, making it hard to pull out.

I stay away from lacquer coated anything. I've cleaned lacquer outta my VZ58's chamber after shooting coated 7.62x39. I didn't have a stuck round but it made a mess.

Try as I might, I can't seem to melt the lacquer off of one of these 7.62X39 cases. I don't think lacquer melting from the case is a problem.

I can't speak for Brown Bear, but I've used the standard poly Wolf with zero issues in an HKG3 and two beltfeds.

Maybe it was you, but I though someone on this forum used fire and couldn't melt the lacquer...anyone know?

Twasn't me.

However, I know full well the stuff isn't getting melted off. Which is why I posted that.

Perhaps tiny flecks are chipping off and those melt under repeated firings, but I really doubt it.

However, I have devoted several minutes prior to that post and right now with a large Scripto grill lighter attempting to melt the lacquer off... and no dice ;)

Wolf has its shortcomings, but I don't believe for a second you're getting a chamber full of lacquer.

EDIT: Ow, I dropped the case and burned my hand. :( QQ
