I do like the rear sight on that thing and I that its in .308 which is hard to find the conversion kits nowadays in the US. I am just not a fan of the Dragunov style stocks and would have chosen a better hooded front sight on the thing. Overall not too bad.
Still I would prefer an L42.
Then there was a company called Australian International Arms making brand new No4 designs which are quite good too. Theres one they add a rail system for mounting optics, free floated heavy barrel and lots of other nice goodies all in the excellent Lee action. You'll pay for it though unfortantly and for some reason they just use the standard 300/600 yard flip sight on the design when its capable of far better.
It's a platform for drill for a rifle they have stored in the USA. It's all about sight picture and hold. The idea was to have the M-16 target sights to practice with. So it fill the bill for the intended job. Most of the CMP shootewrs in my club shoot AR based rifles with those sights, I'm still a 308/30-06 shooter as I had several bad experiences with the system as a child.
I have almost all I need except for the butt stock and grey paint to build the rifle but just the rear apature sight is $250.
If I were doing anything different to a No.4 Enfield, I'd rather build the L42A1. I saw a No.4 receiver, mostly stripped, go for $29.99 on Gunbroker a couple of days ago.
Thought this was intersting, but I'm just totally not an AR guy.
