The Patterson seems quite awkward.

It's actually a lot of fun to shoot but it definitely takes a little getting used to.

the Paterson does have odd geometry compared to later revolvers. Also has three to four times the distinct parts of the Navy. I bought a sack full of replacement parts for mine but haven't had to replace anything yet. It did take quite a lot of fiddling to get them to work right.
