Can someone tell me a briefe info about this caliber ? where can I get the reloading die that cost a bit less than Redding made, what kind of bullet diameters and weight , where can I obtian reloading data and reloading brass for this caliber.

Was this the similar rifle (Reminton Model 8 ) that Frank Hammer used against Bonnie and Clynd ?

Yes, it is used in the Model 8, similar to Frank Hamer. The .32 Rem was one of four chamberings .25, .30, .32, .35 available from Remington for the pumps and autoloaders that competed with Winchester 25/35, 30/30 and .32 Special lever guns. Same same ballistics. The .35 Rem is the only one that survived in the marketplace.

Buffalo Arms carries .32 Remington brass, bullets, and dies. The CH dies are only $4 less than Redding and for that little bit, I would get Redding.

The standard load is a 170 grain .321" bullet at 2000 fps or so.

NRA said to load the .32 Remington the same as .32 Winchester Special, for which some manuals still show data.

My old Lyman 44th shows .32 Remington loads the same as .32 WS with 4895, 4320, and Reloder 7. Their loads with faster powders like 3031 are a grain less than for .32 WS.

Hi Sandy-

I have a Remington model 14 in .32 Remington and it is a good shooter. I use the Redding .32 Remington dies and carefully expand the neck of .30 Remington brass to accept the .321 bullets instead of buying the more expensive .32 Remington brass.

BTW, you will probably have to trim the brass after expanding the neck.

Thank everyone for the great information. Where can I get .321 bullet ?(other than Buffalo arms) . Is it possible to resize the .323 (8 mm Mauser bullet ) down to .321. I assume because this rifle is magazine feed I don't have to worry about spitzer , point nose bullet or round nose bullet .

Hi Sandy-

You can resize the .323 bullets down to .321 using the Lee resizer, but I agree with Jim that it is too much trouble.

Another issue with 8mm bullets is that most are constructed with a long ogive that is probably not suitable for the O.A.L. of the .32 Remington cartridge. However, they make some RNSP bullets that would probably work O.K.

If the cost of the factory .321 bullets is cost-prohibitive I would consider using cast bullets.

In any event, you have a neat old gun and I'm sure you will have fun shooting it! I love these old Remingtons: I have a Model 14 in .32 Rem, a Model 141 in .35 Rem, and a Model 81 in .30 Rem.

Shoot safely and shoot often!

That Rem Model 14 has a unique spiral magazine tube that allows the use of pointed bullets, a selling point vis a vis the Winchester 32 Special and other lever cartridges. The point was only theoretical because I've never seen a factory loaded pointed bullet .32 Rem cartridge. The rifle was designed by Pedersen the next best gun designer after Browning

Perfect timing! I purchased a Remington 141 last weekend in 32 Remington. I plan to take a deer with it next year- it will be 70 years old then. I need load data to get mine up and running, too. It's a wonderful piece of American craftsmanship and history.

I have the .32 remington reloading info from the Lyman book here. I make no guarantees as to the accuracy of this information, so use at your own risk.

I own Remington mod8's in 25, 30 and 32. I have used standard 30-30 load data for all 3 and get excellent results with out showing signs of over pressure. Just me though.

The 25, 30 & 32 Remington cartridges all used the same case head size. .422 The 35 Remington was a larger case head. .460

The fairly new 6.8 SPC case is based on the old 30 Rem case.

My Remington 141 shoots well with Varget under a Hornady 170 gr. flat point bullet. 4" to 5" groups at 100 yds from the bench, which is about as well as I can shoot with open sights!

I purchased a set of older Lyman dies online (used) and easily reformed 30 Remington brass to feed my rifle. Hornady and Speer advised me to use 32 Winchester data.

Speer's .321", 170 gr. bullet has a more pointed profile than the Hornady, but I have yet to try them. I keep talking myself out of a 32 caliber mold, but my reisitance is weakening...

I was told by a couple of old gunsmiths that 30-30 data works too since they are almost the same. I think I will compare the loads between the .32 Winchester Special and the 30-30 to be sure.
