338 Edge Savage 110 Action

I have an older Savage 110 action and am considering a 338 Edge build.

Is the action capable of being used for an Edge project rifle?

The 110 action has been chambered by Savage in 300 RUM and 338 RUM. However there are two shank sizes and the ones factory chambered in these two calibers were large shank.

Thanks for the info. Does the shank size for my older 110cl (lefty) preclude my 338 Edge build?

depends who you ask. I know people have built large magnum calibers on small shank 110 actions without any problems. Some will say it is dangerous and you may have to do it as a single shot. I know the .338 LM is too long for a standard 110 to feed as anything other than a single shot and I believe the edge is only slightly shorter.
