You can still find a nice Hakim for that price and fairly cheap 8mm ammo is still available. The Hakim is a blast to shoot, very low recoil for the caliber and with it's muzzle break it is an attention getter at the range. Worth considering...

You can still find pretty nice swede 96's in that ball park. The Swiss K-31 right there too. If you want a nice Hakim and can rob another $100 from your piggy bank I have a nice Hakim I would let go for less than GunBroker auction price I was about to list it for...

This thread is several months old...

I second the K31 from Simpson LTD. I put in an order for mine a week or two ago, and I found them to be a pleasure to do business with. Typically I find their prices to be a little high, but the deals on their K31's, especially when one considers market availability, are surprisingly good.

With that said,

Where can I still get a Hakim for less than $400?

For a Hakim just keep an eye on gunbroker...lot's of people try to get 6-700 for them but those never sell, folks who price them at 350-400 sell theirs. You just have to keep an eye out for a deal on one.

I believe Rasheeds can still be had in the $400 range.

Beat Rasheeds are selling for $500-$550..Nice ones...$600+ Hakims $400-$450 beat..nice $500-$550. Now the Swedish Ljungmans Beat..$575-$650 Nice..$700-$850. I was able to aquire the whole family..All great guns. The Rasheed (Rashid) may be the best 7.62x39 in my safe. Beats the hell outta my AK and is as good as or better than my Russian SKS.

General consensus seems to be that these Egyptian weapons are excellent and still semi-affordable, correct?? I've seen only one Hakim for sale, and it was in the $500 range.

Wow,how times change. The last Hakim I had an opportunity to buy was $75 and they had a barrel of them. I could have bought several at the time but they were so ugly, who would ever want one? Live and learn.

Yep..and you used to be able to buy a nice 1903 for $39.99 :D Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I think my Swedish Ljungman may be one of my favorite rifles I own. I like what the Swedes did for their answer to the Garand..

A note on the Rasheed (Rashid) what ever spelling you like, there were only 40K or so made of them. Not like the 47 million AK's and SKS's. So rare I searched the world over for a bayo for it and the only correct one I found set me back $100. The rifle is now correct which is worth it to me...That one won't be sold anytime soon. A bit of a history lesson..the Egyptians came into the tooling to make the rifles from the swedes...Look at the Ljungman and then the Hakims and Rashids..Not hard to make them out as 1st cousins.

For sale is a Yugo 24/47 Mauser in 8mm Mauser in North Alabama. The bolt, stock, and floorplate all have matching numbers and the rest are forced matching. The wood is VG+, the metal has most of its finish and the bore is shiny. I'd say that it is VG+ overall. Asking $200 OBO
Still can't believe this hasn't been bought! Listed right here on the trading post.

Just did a search cuz I haven't checked in a while...Yes the Prices on the Hakim and Rashid are as I thought. The funny thing is the Magazines for said rifles in the $100 range
