I live in a state that does not have many cartridge restrictions, in fact the rule says "centerfire mushrooming ammunition" no other regulations.

Well my shoulder just isn't what it used to be and I have been using AR type rifles almost exclusively for years. So I decided to try myself a 350 Legend upper. Handloads are very accurate and the cold bore shot is always consistent at 1.25 inches high dead center at 100 yards.

The 350 Legend may not be everyone's cup of tea, its not the end all be all for deer in the AR-15, but with my 1 and only deer with it so far I don't see any reason to change. 35 yard shot both lungs were jello, bullet exited, had a nice blood trail, but didn't need it for the 10 yards she went. Accurate, Deadly, Low Recoil whats not to like.

350 Legend 170gr Hornady SP
27.6gr Lil Gun CCI Magnum Primer
Starline Brass COAL 2.250 2325fps.

Yeah my state has no straightwall limitations. But if they did the 350 Legend would be a God Send for me. My 13 year old nephew is getting a 350L as his first deer rifle come Christmas time. For the woods hunting we do its gonna be great for his first rifle and first deer next year.

I'll even be teaching him how to reload so we can get the most accurate load for him, and he can kill his first deer with a round he made himself.

My son took a doe with his at 10 yards. You can’t argue with a DRT but. When we skinned the deer we found the slug under the hide on off side. The bullet had turned completely inside out and weighed 75 grains.I was underwhelmed but as I said you really can’t argue with DRT. Definitely not in same class as 35 rem.

What ammo? I'm guessing the 150gr Winchester Extreme Point.

If I'm right at is was the 150gr Winchester I don't really see the problem. Its a fast expanding, high velocity round for the Legend designed to dump lots of energy quickly into the vitals, a very close shot and near muzzle velocity and it fully penetrated the chest cavity and cause instant death, whats to complain about.

Like I said can’t argue with DRT. I prefer exit holes to increase chances of a good blood trail when they do run. Just one hunters opinion.

I will agree it is a good starter round for young hunters. I was most surprised by the quiet report of the shot in the woods. There really is very little recoil or noise. For the cover and style of hunting we do it will do the job nicely until you make a less than perfect hit.

Most of my hunting is in the woods, a 50 yard shot would be hard to get. Plenty of "horsepower" to get it done, accurate, low recoil, low noise, etc whats not to like. And if you can't hit them where it counts it don't matter if you're using a .223, .243, 30-06, 338WM etc.

The only experience I have with the round- is I noticed that it is very available here at places like wal mart, academy, etc.- while nothing else is anywhere to be seen. So buying a rifle in that caliber probably isn't a terrible idea right now if someone is just getting started and can't decide what to get- since the more common calibers are absent from the shelves.

I want Minnesota to allow the .350 Legend in shotgun only zones so that kids can use a nearly recoil-less rifle for deer hunting if they don't just rid of shotgun zones entirely.

I shot beavers up to 50+ pounds with it last winter and this fall made a less than perfect shot on a pronghorn doe at 75 yards. Good performance every time. I am sold, especially as I am recoil sensitive. Have only barely scratched the surface of what I suspect can be done handloading.

I an interested in this caliber, what kind of guns does this caliber come in?.
I'd be interested in it on the H&R Handi-Rifle platform.

I have a few T/C Contenders and an Encore. I wonder if they make a rifle barrel for either action?. I'll need to check it out.
