I picked up some Speer 158 Grain TMJ from my local store the other day. The problem is I can't find any loading data for them. I currently only have the Lyman manual, and Speer doesn't seem to have any data online, nor do the powder manufacturers I am using right now. Can I use the data for a 158 jacketed hollow point? Should I back off some on the charge? I currently have W231, Red Dot, Titegroup, 2400, Unique, and Accurate #5. I am trying to find loads for .357 and .38 Special. Any help will be very much appreciated. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I haven't run into this issue until now. I will likely pick up the Speer manual if I like these, as a store in my area carries lots of their bullets, but I wanted to try some first. Thanks.

The current Loadbook has the data from Speer for that TMJ part number

W231, Red Dot, Titegroup, 2400, Unique, and Accurate #5.

Of the powders you have, here is what they have published ... uh just AA#5 (9.0-10.0g giving 1032 to 1152 FPS). Those seem to be fast powders for 357 158g. They have data for 2400, n110, h110, blue dot, 296, aa#7, AA#9 (my fave), IMR 4227 (my other fave for this bullet), power pistol, n350, hs-7, hs-6, unique, universal.

I have the .357 mag. "One Book, One Caliber" and Speer indicates the same data for TMJ Part #4207, as for JHP, JSP, and Gold Dot. A jacketed bullet is a jacketed bullet. The only time things change regarding data, is when using plated or non jacketed bullets.

You can use the hollowpoint data for your TMJ rounds. I have plenty of times.
Use the cannelure to set your OAL. If I am not mistaken, Being a TMJ round rather than a HP bullet, Your OAL would more than likely be longer than what you see in your book which is no big deal.

2400 is pretty good in .357 Magnum
I like W-231 for .38 Special.
