I've got no urgent need but a relentless want to get another 375 h&h. My first one was a Winchester pre 64 I just had a quarter rib and a medium heavy barrel. I'd love something close to that. What's made modern? I'm really not into the Ruger action. Prefer controlled round feed so Remington is out.

The CZ American Safari is very customizable if you contact them. There is a bit of a premium for them to build "your" rifle but for a factory rifle they are pretty slick and very functional.
The European style stocks they have on other lines feel wierd to me but the American stock styling on their American lines is very appealing.

Wish I could try that square bridge. The CZ is also ktust a bit thicker. Holds one more round...I think?

I love my Winchester Safari Express. The Model 70 has two recoil lugs and is very well built. That being said mine required the crown to be recut and the action to be bedded. The factory crown was off and the bedding looked like silly putty. Once those issues were correct it became an extremely accurate rifle.

I took a small Nebraska Whitetail buck with it last year. Neat clean hole from the 270gr tsx right through the heart.

I looked at the CZ but it was more money and I am very please with my Winchester. Yeah, it needed some fixing but it is now an outstanding rifle.

Model 70 SE if you want a classic blued steel and walnut rifle. Mine has been on a few adventures and is one of my favorite rifles. The bedding on mine is hard (not like silly putty) and the rifle has a good trigger.

I have had the CZ. It was a bit rough around the edges and I did not like the trigger. I think the CZ would be a fine rifle if it was slicked up and had the trigger changed. For the cartridges larger than 375 the CZ is a good place to start.

If looks and nostalgia are a high priority this.

A more practical option IMO

Not sure what you have against the Ruger. They are every bit as good as the Winchester and Ruger still uses the same ruggedly simple trigger design as the pre-64 Winchester. Winchesters made since 2008 use an enclosed trigger that isn't as rugged or reliable.

And from a practical perspective the 375 Ruger is a better round than the older 375 H&H. But it doesn't have the panache. Rifles in 375 Ruger are more reasonably priced and the 375 Ruger is designed to fit in a standard long action. Winchester has to modify long action rifles to work with the longer cartridge. I don't know about CZ.

The first magnum rifle I fired was a Mauser Mark X in .375 H&H, so the big Mauser action and the African calibers just go hand in hand for me. My CZ 550 in 6.5x55 is a fantastic rifle, and the higher-end CZ American Safari rifles are very nicely put together. (One in .300 H&H would be an awesome companion rifle to a .375 ;).)

The Winchester 70 Safari is another fine rifle that will do everything you’ll ask of it. The one I held felt great, almost nimble despite the size and weight. They’re not made anymore, but if you find one of the stainless M70 models it’ll battle the elements should you get drenched day after day on a coastal hunt.

When it comes down to buying a high dollar rifle, the fit to you is a very important thing. Try to find a retailer that has one (or something very close) in stock that will let you see how your choices fit for you. No one wants to sink $2,000 to $3,000 into a fine rifle/scope and pricy ammo and reloading components ... and then be disappointed because it doesn’t shoot, carry or just “feel” right to you.

You’ve picked one of the finest calibers for hunting literally anything on the planet and a couple of rifles that are world-standards for quality and hard-hunting serviceability. Good luck with your search, let us know what you choose!

Stay safe.

I don't have a 375 in a CZ- BUT- I have several other calibers and I must say I am very impressed with out of the box function and accuracy- they have their quirks but all in all I like them-
Also Winchester/Browning really pissed me off with customer service the past two months- the new shotgun I sent back took way too long to repair and had more issues when I got it back that they created-

Good news and bad news.

First the bad news. The 375 model 70 got sold before I could get it.

Good news. There was a Winchester model 1892 as new in the box. Small lever, 45 Colt 20". I would call it field grade, dull flat metal and satin walnut That one is now mine. :)

There will be other 375s, so the wait goes on.
