Has anyone come across any test information on the new 375 Ruger in the Hawkeye rifle? All I can find is ads on the Hornady and Ruger websites.

new ruger 375 is supposed to be on par with the 375H&H but in a long action instead of a magnum length action and use a non belted case
course belted cases never bothered me anyways

Read the article in G&A. Looks promising. Short neck, but most of the WSM cases have short necks too. I really like the Alaskan model with a 20 inch barrel. Should be a real nice Alaska/Canada type gun. Bet some profesional Alaskan guides may bo for that. I guess we'll see.

I saw an article in the Ruger/shooting Times annual...

It highlighted both the cartridge and the guns...It looks good to me. I do not like belted cartridges and I love the M77. I am not sure what I would do with one, but what the heck..

Give them a break, guys. It takes a while to circulate the new stuff to the gunzine writers to get their plugs. They are living off of press releases now.

One article said it was effectively a .375 Newton. I cannot think of much less useful to me. Maybe a custom gunsmith will use the brass to bring back the real .30 Newton.

The current issue of HANDLOADER has a little information on it. Basically it's a beltless cartridge with .375 H&H performance-more or less- in a .30-06 length case. Another shorter and fat by any other name.

I held one today.
Very impressive in a utilitarian kind of way.
I love the finish an sights on it.
I may just have to buy one later.
