I posted this on another thread that sort of brushed up against wheel gun ammo carriers other than speed loaders. I think it's worth posting here on it's own thread, for what it's worth.

Here's a tip for carrying your spare wheel gun ammo. Six rounds of .38 or .357 fit almost exactly in a plastic film can. Five one way, the other in the middle in the other direction. The black cans are best because of the way their gray lids "peel" off easily.

To carry 12 extra rounds, take two film cans and butt them together at their bases. Use wide clear plastic packaging tape for this, 2 or so times around them both and they are joined forever, with a gray cap at each end. This double film can really fits well in the hand and is very tactile and user friendly, even without looking at it, or in the dark.

This 12 pack of bullets fits well in a fanny pack, jacket pocket or purse. The plastic lids are secure, yet they peel off quickly to dump six rounds into your hands in a flash. My "go kit" includes 2 speed loaders, but also another 12 or 24 rounds of .357 in the double film can ammo holders. Try it, you'll like it. I do, anyway, and they're free. I also find it handy for carryig special loads in separate containers that are easily marked, such as rat shot, strike threes, etc.

Instead of bottom-to-bottom, has anyone tried super-gluing the lids together, top-to-top? It seems that glue would be "cleaner" than tape, but maybe it's just six-of-one/half-dozen of the other, or I'm overlooking something.

Now if I could only fit the ammo in the carrying cases for my digital camera's memory cards.

I need to move to large format film

I can only fit four .45 Colt and barely fit five .45 ACP into the film canister. I was really hoping that 6 .45 would fit...

Wedge, Mad Man etc
I never guessed this dull tip would generate such laughs! Wedge, you finally have a reason to use little bitty .357 bullets now! 6 fit in a film can!

Use wide clear plastic packaging tape for this,

What is that? We haven't progressed beyond duct tape in Alaska! And what LPI do you use on your lid rim checkering? :D

Good tip, Travis, thanks!

Tactile/Tactical = my first belly laugh of the day, Mad Man...
