The gun is a S&W 38 special. On the barrel it has 38 S.&W.SPECIAL CTG. On the right side of the gun it has Trade Mark SW Reg.U.S. PAT.OFF and it has Made in usa Marcas registradas smith & wesson Springfield,Mass. On the left side of of the barrel it just has smith & wesson. On the but of the it has a number k 3310xx. It has no make or model on the gun or a patened date. I was wondering what year, model, and the price it is worth.

Smith and Wesson is the make

if its a 4inch its a Combat Masterpiece revolver if its the 6 in its the target masterpiece model
it would become the Model 14 and 15

if my smith talk is straight woulda been made before the model number system.

could also be a model 10. depending on specifics

It has a four inch barrel. So what is the value. Just curious. What is if my smith talk is straight?

Smith and Wesson has a system of model numbers that are applied retroactively. meaning when they made your gun, it may have been a "combat masterpiece" then 5 years down the road it was renamed as the Model 15 or Model 14. basicly saying, i maybe right, but just as easily i may be wrong
does it look like this? http://www.randymays.com/Model15a.jpg

i cant really guess at a price, im new to revolvers myself.

K331,000 (if correct, right number of zeros?) should be from 1958 and the gun should have the model number stamped on the frame.

Look here for MOD 15:

A nice Combat Masterpiece or early Model 15 will usually fetch $250-$400 depending on condition, accessories, etc.
