S & W airweight- 38

I have an S & W Airweight on the barrell with the numbers 38spl ctg on the barrell under the "airweight".
On the bottom of the grip is j942469
It shows made in the usa.

for future reference, NEVER give out the entire serial number of a firearm you own. Always leave the last two digits blank and represent them with Xs.

Well you can have this problem.

Someone claims their gun was stolen in the night for insurance purposes and they read this board and they give the make, model, and, uh, serial number to the cops. Now that serial number will be put in a database and if your gun is taken in evidence it will be presumed stolen.

Might be other reasons but this one comes to mind quickly.
