I have a chance at a 38 special Speed Six with a 4" barrel. It shows holster wear but it is tight and the bore looks good. Pretty sure it's a military or similar trade-in. Is $220. a decent price for such a piece? I already have a 4" bull barrel Model 10 so it's not like I NEED the Ruger. Hmmm!

That's a fair price, IMO. It's almost certainly a police trade-in.

A nice thing about the .38 Special Speed and Service Sixes is that they were built the same as the .357s except for the chambering. So, they'll take the hottest .38 Special loads you can put in them.

That would be a steal for a Speed. Sounds to me like it's a Service Six, but it's still a very good price. Esp. if it's US property marked.

Probably a good investment at that price.

But remember, if you ever want to sell it, the reason why it is inexpensive may be because those sorts of guns are inexpensive in your locale.

We see surprisingly high prices on Gunbroker. It can be expensive to sell handguns "over the internet." Count on paying $70 for shipping if you use UPS. Alternatively, you may find a sympathetic FFL who will ship it USPS for you. Think about that before you "invest."

One thing's for sure, they aint makin' no more Speed-Sixes.

More than fair. In the past year I sold a 4" Security Six for $265 to a work and shooting buddy. Otherwise, it would have been probably $75 more.
