Why does the 380 ACP Model have a Chrome strip on the slide?

Barrel length: 4 "
Overall length: 7.75"
Weight: 31 oz.
Frame: High-impact polymer
Finish: Black powder coat w/ chrome rail
Capacity: 8- and 10-shot magazine standard
Sights: 3-dots, fully-adjustable

Probably just to ease friction between the sliderail and the frame for smoother operation. Flat-black finishes, like matte, tend to be a little rougher, especially on guns within the Hi-Point's price point.

Since the 380 and 9 are the same gun it's probably a way for them to tell the slides apart

Because they are marketing a butt-ugly gun in a questionable caliber. This is also known as polishing a turd. I can understand buying a Hi-Point in 9mm, 40S&W, or 45acp, but .380????

Recoil sensative and on extreme budget

The polished "strip" is on the outside of the slide.

That would be my guess.

Oh, okay. The OP's first post indicated a "chrome rail". Since the Hi-Point does not have an accessory rail, I assumed he meant the actual slide-rail.

I guess it is pure decoration, for the same reason people buy those silly looking "two tone" pistols or guns in a selection of designer colors.
